Dear Editor,

I happen to learn that a former Genocide convict, Joseph Nzabirinda, was released after serving his seven year jail sentence.

It is good that he has served his sentence having admitted that he took part during in the genocide by organising meetings aimed at carrying out massacres.

Instead of just joining his family in Belgium, it would be good if he first came to Rwanda to reconcile with Rwandans. Now that the nation is spearheading a strong reconciliation policy, it is vital that the perpetrators of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi not only serve their sentences but also consider apologising for their terrible deeds.
