Rayon Sports reserve goalkeeper Abubakar Bashunga has completed his transfer to Kenyan side Bandari FC ahead of the start of the 2018 Kenya Premier League, which kicks off on February 3.

Bandari FC open their 2018 campaign against 2017 runner-up Sofapaka on February 4 at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos County.

The team’s technical director, Twahir Muhiddin, confirmed to Kenyan media at the team’s training base, that the Rwandan national youth goalkeeper is their latest acquisition.

Bashunga, 22, who still had a few months left on his Rayon Sports contract, confirmed on Saturday he had signed a three-year deal with the Kenyan club.

It’s reported that Bandari paid Rwf15m of which Rwf2m will go to the reigning Azam Rwanda Premier League Champions.

"I am really happy to join such a big club. Hopefully, I will improve and take my career to a whole new level. I want to repay the club management for putting a lot of faith in me,” Bashunga said.

Bashunga also thanked Rayon Sports for giving him a chance to play in the national league, adding he’s looking forward to the new challenge.

Bandari FC finished in 10th position with 43 points in the Kenyan topflight football league last season.
