Christian music lovers will be treated to spiritually uplifting performances in a one-day festival, dubbed Christian Dance Festival (CDF), at Petit Stade in Remera on Sunday.

The festival, in its third edition, will be graced by several artistes and will be a platform to promote gospel artistes to discover and nurture their talent.

The show starts at 3p.m, and will feature performances from popular gospel music artistes.

Christian Dance Festival is an annual dance festival that promotes talents with a purpose to deliver the word of God through their artistic talents.

The first edition of the festival was held in 2015. The second edition took place in January 2016 at New Life Bible Church in Kigali, under the theme ‘The word of God, from beginning to the end.’

Benjamin Musoni, the co-organiser of the event, said they expect this year’s festival to be bigger and better.

"This year’s festival will be bigger and better than it was the previous two years, and it is expected to attract over 3,000 people across the country.”

"It will also include workshops to educate people about the ministry, in order to raise awareness since many people still misunderstand the concept of worship through dance and its biblical context,” he noted.

This year’s theme is, ‘With one voice we shall shout, with one dance we shall proclaim salvation; it is derived from the Bible in 2 Corinthians 5: 21.

A group perform at the 2016 Christian Dance Festival.

The festival will be graced by renowned solo dancers and dance groups like; The Blessing Family, Shining Stars Family, Challenge Talents’ house, Shekinah drama team, True Light of Christ Dance team, The Soldiers of Jesus Christ drama team, Praise Again drama team, The Winners drama team, True Promises drama team and Himbaza club.

In addition, the event will also feature guest performers including Arsene Tuyi, Christian Irimbere and his band, and Réné Patrick, among others.

Performances will include traditional dances, drama, modern, salsa, Indian/western dances, poems and more.

The event is being organised by United Dance Worshipers (UDW), a youth led network established in 2014 that consists of 10 Christian dance groups, with around 250 members from different churches and Christian ministries.

For the coming years, the festival is expected to grow and involve more teams beyond Rwanda, East Africa and Africa in general. Admission to the Sunday festival is Rwf2, 000.
