RE: "The rural home concept; where does Rwanda fall?” (The New Times, January 18).
Let’s not shy away from monetizing such rural homes. And let’s not shy away from calling out Ndemo for failure on his part to monetize the rural use factors.
The vernacular value of these rural homes is immense. I am sure; there are funerals, and weddings and even local water committees in Ndemo’s village.
When you meet him next time, ask him why folks buy ‘ugly’ paintings for a fortune to adorn their city home boxes. Ask him why all the rich of Muthaiga are escaping outwards to the villages in Naivasha, Nanyuki and Taveta.
That rural home is more than money and can be a lot more money when and if properly monetize.
