APR FC will face AS Kigali in their second match of this year’s Heroes Cup tournament on Saturday at Amahoro National Stadium seeking to bounce back from the defeat against Police FC in their tournament opener last weekend.

Jimmy Mulisa’s team, winners of the inaugural edition last year, find themselves in 4th place with zero point behind leaders Police who have three points.

AS Kigali and Rayon Sports have one point each after sharing the spoils in their first game.

"We need three points and I believe we will get them to enable us move up the table before the final game against Rayon Sports, which could determine the champions,” Mulisa told Saturday Sport.

And the former Amavubi and APR forward is keen to take advantage of AS Kigali’s dip in form. "If there is a good time to face AS Kigali, it’s now because they seem not to be at their best.”

But, AS Kigali head coach Eric Nshimiyinama has warned that his team is ready to get back to winning ways against APR.

"We will go into the game looking for nothing less than a win, we drew against Rayon Sports but that’s history, we must look forward to the next challenge with positive attitude,” he added.

In the second match of the day, table leaders Police FC will be up against Azam Rwanda Premier League champions Rayon Sports at the same venue.

Police FC head coach Innocent Seninga, whose team will be seeking for a second win in a row, said: "We want to keep the same winning spirit”.

He added: "We have prepared well but we are also aware that Rayon Sports will be tough as they will be seeking to recover from last weekend’s draw, we will need to be careful and defend well.”

But his opposite number at Rayon Sports, Jeannot Witakenge, said: "We were disappointed to draw our first game, but we are ready to win the second game.”

The Heroes’ Cup is organised by the Chancellery for Heroes, National Orders and Decorations of Honour (CHENO) as part of activities to mark the national Heroes’ Day that falls on February 1.

This is the second edition of the tournament.
