You thought releasing an album was all about being able to sing, right? Wrong. But instead, having the objective and determination is as important in a vocal talent. This is the driving force for most artistes in the country, who have made it.

First time Pam Awards winner and famous Rwandan hip hop singer Josiane Uwineza, a.k.a Miss JoJo last week launched her 13 track debut album "Genesis” (ITANGIRIRO).

Miss JoJo’s album is composed of world class music stereos, like: Raga, dancehall, RnB and slow jam. It was recorded by different producers including the self styled JP from Contact FM audio recording studio and Pastor P from Narrow Road Production studios among others.

Speaking to The New Times after the launch, Miss JoJo who was honest enough admitted that she was somewhat happy to launch her new album, but also totally disappointed about the flop of her concert, especially at the Petit Stade where the turn-out was low. 

Miss JoJo said, "I was so upset with the number of people during my concert at Petit Stade, despite the fact the entrance a fee was less, only Rwf2,000 and Rwf3,000 for VIPs,” the disappointed  miss Jojo said. 

However, the singer never forgot her esteemed fans and fellow artistes who made it up to her thought-out launch.

During the Kigali Serena’s VIP concert, Miss JoJo reportedly sold over 20 CDs and 520 to the Ministry of Culture and Sport. But on the flopped concert, she only sold 7 CDs, each at Rwf500.

The Minister of Culture and Sport Joseph Habineza bought the CDs that will be distributed to delegates coming for the African Youth Championship—Under 20s scheduled for early January 2009.

"We bought many CDs because it’s under the ministry’s obligations to promote Rwandan music and to support the local artistes,” said Mr. Habineza.

The singer hit Rwanda’s music industry in 2006 with Mbwira and Tukabyine hit singles.

Miss JoJo is a graduate from the National University of Rwanda, where she studied English literature.
