Hey asks FERWAFA to terminate his contract

Rwanda Football Association (FERWAFA, are considering a request by Amavubi head coach Antoine Hey to have his contract terminated after the team failed to reach knockout round at ongoing Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco.

Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), are considering a request by Amavubi head coach Antoine Hey to have his contract terminated after the team failed to reach knockout round at ongoing Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco.

In a statement released on Thursday afternoon, FERWAFA said that after receiving a proposal from Hey seeking to terminate his contract, a meeting between FERWAFA & the Ministry of Sports and Culture will be held  in the coming days to review his request.

"FERWAFA has received a proposal from coach Antoine Hey seeking to terminate his contract. FERWAFA & MINISPOC will meet in the upcoming days to review his request. However, Coach Antoine Hey is duly urged to respect contract termination clauses binding both parties,” reads the statement.

FERWAFA and MINISPOC will hold a meeting in the coming days to review Hey's request according to a tweet posted by the football governing body. 

It was reported that FERWAFA president Vincent Nzamwita and Hey held a meeting on Wednesday, January 24, at Royal Tulip Hotel where they agreed to amicably terminate the contract until the new FERWAFA Executive Committee comes into office.

Hey twitted, "A special thank you to my Team. You have been wonderful! I am so sorry we could not make our dream come true.”

Rwanda was eliminated from group stages after finishing in third position with four points behind, Nigeria and Algeria.
