HELSINKI- Rwanda on Sunday concluded a barnstorming debut at Matka Nordic Travel Fair, Northern Europe’s largest tourism fair in the Finnish Capital Helsinki.
A combination of traditional dances, Rwandan music and complimentary Rwandan coffee helped make Rwanda’s stand at the venue one of the liveliest at the fair.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the fair on Thursday last week, Rwanda’s envoy to the Nordic Countries, Christine Nkulikiyinka made a case for Rwanda as one the world’s best kept travel destinations secrets.
She also stressed Rwanda’s recently enacted visa-upon-arrival policy as evidence of Rwanda’s openness to the world.
"The reception we have received here from both the media and the public has been overwhelming and well beyond our expectations. It is clear that our presence was timely and needed”, said Nkulikiyinka.
"The Nordic travel market is very important for us. Long winters, generous holidays and substantial incomes make the region a key source for tourists and Rwanda offers what they need”, she added.
The Ambassador commended the support provided by the Rwandan community in Finland during the fair.
