This year’s national Heroes Day basketball tournament is scheduled to run from January 27 to February 3, according to the Rwanda Basketball Federation secretary general, Richard Mutabazi.

IPRC-Kigali are the men’s defending champions while APR are the champions in the women’s category.

Mutabazi said the tournament will be played over two weeks and the national league will take a break during this tournament will.

"All the local basketball clubs in men and women categories are free to participate, but we are waiting for their confirmation because the deadline for registration is January 22,” said Mutabazi.

The men’s clubs expected to participate in the week-long tournament include; IPRC-Kigali, APR, Rwanda Energy Group (REG), Patriots, IPRC-South, Rusizi, Espoir and United Generation Basketball Club (UGB), while the women’s category will have; Ubumwe, APR, The Hoops and UR-Huye.
