It is unfortunate that many African rebel groups never have any stipulated agenda for their armed conflicts. This has kept the continent in continued war that has paralysed the whole development of the continent as a whole.

When I heard of last weekend’s rebel attacks on AU troops in Sudan’s troubled Darfur, I wondered whether Africans will ever have their conflicts solved diplomatically.
If one asked what these rebels want, they may not be in position to explain their grievances, just like Uganda’s LRA and the Somalis to mention but a few. The bitter part of it is the fact that innocent blood continues to be shed carelessly.
Why did these Sudanese rebels have to attack peace keepers who are not supposed to engage in conflicts where they go for peace keeping missions?
If they cannot reach an understanding with the government in power, why put their frustrations onto the harmless peacekeepers?
One wonders as to why they (rebels) do not spell out what compels them to wage wars and save innocent people from prolonged conflicts and bloodshed coupled with other related problems.
