NYARUGENGE - One of the most wanted car robbers is now in police custody. Morris Muvunyi, 32, on the Police’s Most Wanted list for car robbery, last week handed himself over to the Rwanda National Police. He is currently detained at the Nyamirambo Police station, The New Times can reliably report.

"Many people were helping police to search for me so I turned myself in,” Munvunyi told the media at the police station.

According to the smartly dressed Muvunyi, he would hire vehicles and then forge their logbooks in his names. He would then use the forged logbook and hired vehicle as security to unsuspecting ‘clients’ who would give him Rfw 3 to 4million. He would then disappear with his cash and leave the vehicle and logbook behind.

"I would get the logbook for only Rfw 200.000,” Muvunyi revealed.

"The suspect has done this to five different people in different areas,” Police spokesman, Willy Marcel Higiro said.

He told The New Times that they have also arrested fraudsters who fake official documents like logbooks, and technical control documents issued by police as well as educational documents.

"I took the police officers to the place where they forge the documents in town. I accept the crime,” he said.
