Officers from different countries pursuing their course at Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Command and Staff College in Musanze District on Saturday showcased cultures of their respective countries.

This was during the cultural festival organized by the college with an aim of understanding the relationship between national traditions, cultures and values with security.

Culture, according to a statement from RDF, has become a fundamental variable in understanding and solving strategic security challenges.

The objective of the event was to make students at the college fully conversant with the importance of culture in strategic studies.

This was the third time the festival is being held and it was attended by 47 students from Czech Republic, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda and  Zambia.

Addressing the students, Maj Gen Jean Bosco Kazura, the Commandant of the College said;

"This is an opportunity to display the high standards of awareness and tolerance of intercultural differences the students have reached in sharing different cultural experiences, education and social networking. This helps them to live together, to work jointly and share everything.”

Major Ondrej Abonyi from Czech Republic and one the students at the college told the media that it was great occasion to share experience and cultures with his course mates from different African countries.

"It was great experience for me as a European student here, I had the opportunity to share with my colleagues from nine countries. It was great experience to share and test different food, dances, music, drinks…and I am proud for hosting lot of Rwandans and other guests to test delicacies from my country.”
