Yves Namahoro has become the first coach to be sacked in the second division league after promotion-chasing Unity SC terminated his contract following the 3-2 defeat against Rwamagana City FC at Rwamagana Police ground on Saturday.

Unity SC president Charles Kakoza Nkuriza, commonly known as ‘KNC’, confirmed Namahoro’s sacking and his replacement by Moussa Gatera, from Isonga FC.

KNC said, "The decision was taken by the committee for the good of the team because we’re not performing well as we should under him, and we have appointed Moussa Gatera as the new head coach.”

On Saturday, Unity SC took a 2-0 first half lead through striker Claude Ishimwe in the 29th minute and left back Bosco Kayitaba in the 41st minute.

But Rwamagana City returned for the second period more determined and reduced the deficit in the 47th minute through striker Vivens Mukunzi.

Mukunzi added the second and the equaliser in the 63rd minute before forward Zaburi Cyizere completed the comeback for the home team with a winner in the 81st minute.

Namahoro joined Unity SC from La Jeunesse this season having spent the previous two years with Vision FC.

He was brought in and given the target of promotion to the Azam Rwanda Premier League but he leaves the Ndera-based team in fifth place with 12 points, while Rwamagana City are second with 15 points from eight matches.
