IT was a night to remember for gospel music fans as one of the renowned choirs in the country, Choeur International et ensemble instrumental de Kigali (CIEIK) put up a spiritually nourishing show at Kigali Serena Hotel on Sunday.
IT was a night to remember for gospel music fans as one of the renowned choirs in the country, Choeur International et ensemble instrumental de Kigali (CIEIK) put up a spiritually nourishing show at Kigali Serena Hotel on Sunday.
Dubbed ‘Christmas Carols’, the choir put up an impressive performance that will linger for long in minds of those who attended the show. The choir performed a number of Christmas tunes, including Umwana Yatuvukiye, Silent Night, Gloria, O Sole Mio and Joy to the World, among others. From the quality of the performances, it proved that enough time was put in planning for the show.
"Everything went according to plan,” said Benjamin Mushinzimana, the choir president. The choir also sang non-gospel songs by international artistes like John Legend’s All Of Me, Sauti Sol’s Nerea, Celine Dion’s Power of Love and Beethoven’s Fantaisie, among others.
Fans from all walks of life attended the live concert.
"This is an annual show to celebrate Christmas with our fans and our supporters. The year has just begun and we have bigger plans in future, where we want to reach out to all people, especially the youth through gospel music,” Mushinzimana explained.
The crowd beamed with satisfaction after a thrilling performance. Other performers of the day included Bright Five Singers, who also put up a great performance and did not disappoint. The concert ended at 9.30pm.
Choeur International et ensemble instrumental de Kigali started in 2006 with its main offices at St Paul in Kigali. It is made up of artistes from different choirs across the country.
