RWANDA international striker Danny Usengima, who plays for Tanzania Premier League side Singida United has been ruled out of action for at least four weeks after injuring his right hand.

The former Police FC forward picked up the injury on Friday during a group match against Mlandege FC in the ongoing Mapinduzi Cup, taking place in Zanzibar.

Singida won the encounter 3-0, with Usengimana scoring the opening goal before getting injured.

The injury will see Usengimana, one of Singida FC’s star players; miss the rest of Mapinduzi Cup as well as two league matches, including one against table leaders Simba SC, coached by former Rayon Sports tactician Masoudi Djuma Irambona, on January 12.

Singida United face group rivals Young Africans on Sunday to determine, who advances to semi-finals as group leader. Both teams have already booked tickets for the last four.

Usengimana, who joined the Tanzanian side last summer along with former APR’s right-back Micheal Rusheshangoga, has scored three goals in three games in Mapinduzi Cup.

The former Isonga FC forward has also netted 4 times in the league, helping debutants Singida United to third position in the table with 23 points, three behind the leaders after 12 matches.

Usengimana joined Singida United for a transfer fee reported to be around US$100,000 (about Rwf82.6 million).

The 21-year-old had been one of the hotshots in the Azam Rwanda Premier League for the past two years, attracting attention from a number of regional clubs.
