Bugesera FC president Jean Claude Gahigi has revealed that the club has begun the search for a new head coach to replace Ali Bizimungu.

The Eastern Province-based side sacked Bizimungu over the poor run of results that left the club in the bottom half of the league table. Bizimungu has since joined Tanzanian Premier League side Mwadui FC.

Gahigi did not reveal the names on the shortlist, but promised the new coach will be announced before the league resumes next month after Amavubi’s participation in the forthcoming 2018 African Nations Championships (CHAN) finals in Morocco.

He said: "We are looking for an experienced head coach to elevate the club to a better position in the league, we are talking to our targets but at this point, I can’t give out more details.”

Assistant coach Maurice Nshimiyimana, who was put in temporary charge after the sacking of Bizimungu, has worked tirelessly to try and improve the team’s performance.

Bugesera FC are languishing in 12th place with 10 points, two points ahead of bottom-placed Espoir after 10 rounds of matches.

Inside sources also revealed that Bugesera management have held talks with among others; former APR FC assistant coach Jean David Katotola as well as Etincelles coach Emmanuel Ruremesha and Espoir FC’s Jimmy Ndizeyeye, who is currently on ‘suspension’ due to poor results.
