THE top four teams from last season’s Azam Rwanda Premier League will compete in this year’s Heroes Cup tournament, which is scheduled for January 23 to February 1 at Amahoro National Stadium.

THE top four teams from last season’s Azam Rwanda Premier League will compete in this year’s Heroes Cup tournament, which is scheduled for January 23 to February 1 at Amahoro National Stadium.
The four teams include; league champions Rayon Sports, Police FC, who finished second, third-placed APR FC and AS Kigali.
On the first day of the tourney, January 23, Rayon Sports will play against Police, while APR will be up against AS Kigali. The second day will see APR play against Police while Rayon Sports face AS Kigali.
For the last day of the tournament, February 1, which is also the National Heroes Day, Police FC will take on AS Kigali, whereas holders APR will play against archrivals Rayon Sports.
The competition will be played on robin round format with all four teams playing each other and afterwards, FERWAFA’s Competitions Commission will consider the points tally and goal difference to determine the tournament winners.
If Rwanda proceed at the African Nations Championships (CHAN) 2018, which will run from Jan. 12 to Feb. 4 in Morocco, the teams will use the available players, who are not on international duty as well as test the new ones signed during the January transfer window that opened on 1st and will close on Jan. 31.
The winner of the Heroes Cup tournament will get Rwf3m on top of the trophy and gold medals, second place side will earn Rwf2m; the bronze medalist will walk away with Rwf1.5, while the fourth-placed team will take home Rwf1m.
But before the tournament starts, each team will get Rwf1m for preparations..
