The local football house, Ferwafa has confirmed that clubs are free to bid for players ahead of the second leg expected in February, 2009.

The Ferwafa Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa said yesterday that the transfer window is open until the first week of February, 2009.

"Between now and first week of February, national league clubs are free to recruit new players,” Kalisa said.

Kalisa also said that the recruitment should be made official through Ferwafa to avoid the same problems which hit several clubs at the start of the league in October where many transfers were illegal according to the rules governing players’ transfer.

Meanwhile, the second league has been pushed to February to pave way for the 16th African youth championship set for January 18-February 1 in Kigali.

Presently, nine-time league champions APR lead the standings with 24 points despite being held to a 1-all draw against Mukura in their last fixture.

Defending champion Atraco, level on points with APR are ranked second following APR’s superior goal difference.

2004 league champions Rayon Sport stand in third place with 19 points. La Jeunesse and SC Kiyovu are at the bottom of the table.
