Rwanda international Dominique Savio Nshuti has written to his club AS Kigali asking to be released less than seven months after signing a three-year contract, Saturday Sport has established.

The 20-year-old former Isonga FC and Rayon Sports attacking midfielder only joined AS Kigali in June on a free transfer after Rayon Sports allowed his contract to run out – it is reported that the City of Kigali-sponsored team paid him a sign-on fee of Rwf16million.

In a letter written by Nshuti through his manager Ricard Ishimwe, of Ricard Sports Corporation, the midfielder, who has made one league appearance due to injury, informed his current bosses that he wants to terminate the contract because some clauses in contract have not been fulfilled.

"Article 3 of the contract we signed stipulates that I will get my own house four months after signing the contract, the contract was signed on June 26, 2017 and up to date nothing has been done,” the letter, seen by Saturday Sport, reads in part.

"We therefore decided to terminate the contract I had signed as Article 11 grants me that right to terminate the contract once one or another of the articles is not respected.”

However, AS Kigali Secretary General, Joseph Nshimiye denied ever receiving the letter but confirmed having heard about it through the media.

"The guy is just indisciplined because, if he has issues to address with the club, he knows the right channels to go through to address them instead of running to the media first,” said Nshimiye.

He added that, "He has been training with other players for the last two weeks and he has not told anyone in management that he has a problem, every side in the contract has a right to terminate the contract, but first will sit and discuss it.”

Nshuti made his AS Kigali debut in the season opener against his former team Rayon Sports, which ended in a 1-1 draw before his long-standing shoulder injury re-occurred – it required surgery at King Faisal Hospital.

The Rwanda international has been one of the hotshots in local football since joining Rayon Sports from second division side Isonga FC two years ago. He helped Rayon Sports to the Peace Cup in 2016 and the league title last season.

Nshuti was handed his maiden international cap under Johnny McKinstry on April 25, 2015 against Somalia in the African U23 Championship qualifiers first round clash that was staged at Amahoro National Stadium ending 2-1 in favour of Rwanda.
