Members of the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) general assembly will vote for a new president today.

The election will be supervised by FIFA Council Member, Constant Omari Selemani, at Lemigo Hotel in Kigali.

Selemani, who was re-elected last week as the President of DR Congo FA (FECOFA), also doubles as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) 2nd Vice President. He arrived in the country on Thursday.

Voters will choose between incumbent Vincent Nzamwita and  Félicité Rwemalika, who is seeking to become the first female head of the federation.

Rwemalika is a FERWAFA executive member in charge of women football, who also doubles as the vice president of Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee.

Both candidates have made efforts to sell themselves as the best to lead FERWAFA and take Rwandan football to the next level.

If elected, Rwemalika says her top priority will be to professionalise Rwandan football and make it marketable to sponsors, while Nzamwita wants to build stronger structures, which he says will be the foundation for Rwandan players to show off their talent.

FERWAFA has had four presidents since 1994. Gen Jean Bosco Kazura replaced Gen. Caesar Kayizari in 2006 before Celestin Ntanungira took over the reins on an interim basis, following the resignation of Gen. Kazura while Nzamwita beat Ntagungira in the elections of 2013.
