The National Electoral Commission (NEC) has released the calendar for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections due in July.
Campaign period will begin on June 22 and close on July 13 before voting gets underway from July 14 and 16, according to an announcement by the NEC on February 21.

The collection of election materials began in January and will end in May.
The NEC will begin to receive election observers from March 15 to July 14.
The list of voters will be revised from March to June, both for those in Rwanda and abroad.
Independent candidates will begin to collect the signatures of their supporters from April 18 to May 30. Presidential aspirants are obliged to have 600 signatures from registered voters across the country, which translates to 12 people from each district.

The provisional voters’ list will be announced not later than June 14, while the final list will be announced on June 29.
Designation and appointment of polling officers will be done not later than June 14.
Civic training on election will be conducted between February and May.
Discussions and meeting with stakeholders in elections began in January and will go on until July.
Submitting candidacies, campaign period
The electoral commission will begin to receive candidacies for the presidency and members of the parliament from May 17-30.
The provisional list of approved candidates for president and parliamentary seats will be announced on June 6.
The final list of the approved candidates will be announced on June 14.
Campaign period for political parties and independent candidates will begin on June 22 and close on June 13.

Going to the polls
Rwandans will go to the polls on July 14 and 16.
For Rwandans abroad, voting for the president and 53 members of parliament will take place on July 14.
For Rwandans inside the country, voting for the president and 53 members of parliament takes place on July 15.
On July 16, 24 female members of parliament will be elected by special organs, depending on the administrative structure.
Voting for two members of parliament elected by the National Youth Council and one member of parliament elected by the National Council of Persons with Disabilities will also take place on July 16.
Announcement of election results
The provisional results of the elections will be announced on July 20, while the final results will be announced on July 27.
