Respect EAC integration fundamentals
Tanzania has been one of the most acrimonious partner in the EAC. When it’s not scuttling agreements reached by the member states, it’s erecting new NTB (non-tariff barriers). It has refused to allow free movement of people in EAC, yet this is one of the fundamental bedrock of a successful EAC.

RE: "Democratic principles in the EAC need to be respected” (The New Times, December 20).
Tanzania is struggling with divided allegiance between SADC and EAC. It will be good for the community if the country clearly states where its heart is. If things go on this way, speed of economic and political integration will seriously be compromised.
