Over 40 participants from different parts of Rwanda have graduated as swimming coaches, referees and judges after concluding a five-day training course at Hill Top Hotel in Kigali.

The course was organized by Thousand Kilos Women Canoe Kayak and Aquatic Sports Club 1000k in collaboration with Rwanda Swimming Federation and Confederation Africane de Natation Amateur (CANA) and International Swimming Federation (FINA).

Among the participants, 30 were female aged between 14-35 years. The course was conducted by Dr Lawal Gbenga from Nigeria.

After the course, the national swimming federation announced that next year, they will continue training more coaches, referees and judges as part of their long term plan to develop the sport.

Speaking to Times Sport, Rwanda Swimming Federation president, Samuel Ufitimana, said that, "We need to train more coaches, referees and judges so that we have a good number of them who can officiate swimming competitions across the country.”
