WESTERN PROVINCE
RUSIZI — The Peace and Decentralisation programme (PEP), has donated laptop computers worth Rwf500,000 each, to 18 Sector Executive Secretaries of Rusizi district.
The facilities were handed over on Tuesday during a four-day workshop on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at the Centre pastoral conference hall in Kamembe.
The workshop was organised by PEP in conjunction with the district aimed at equipping the sector leaders with various ICT skills.
Anatole Mbanjinganji, the district ICT officer, who also acted as the trainer, urged the trainees to always enhance their computer skills.
He called upon the sector executive secretaries to encourage area residents to learn how to use computers and Internet- pointing out that the training and donation was in line with the government’s ICT policy.
"Since you have got laptops and have learnt various skills in ICT, I am very sure that this would help you to improve your day to day activities in the sectors you work from,” Mbanjinganji told the trainees.
Octave Rukundo, the Executive Secretary of Kamembe Sector, who spoke on behalf of his counterparts, thanked PEP for the donation, saying it would ensure efficient and timely service delivery. He appealed to the donors to extend similar training and facilities to other districts.
According to Mbanjinganji, PEP would provide laptops and organise similar ICT workshops for all Sector executive secretaries in other districts of the province, before rolling it to other provinces.
