In a surprising turn of events, Singer Kenny Sol, one of Rwanda’s most popular artistes, has allegedly inked a deal with emerging music label 1:55 AM, under Coach Gael, real name Gael Karomba, The New Times has learnt.
Real name Nobert Rusanganwa, the ‘Say My Name’ singer is embarking on this strategic music journey just a month after a civil wedding ceremony with Alliance Yvette Kunda.
Insiders confirmed that Kenny Sol’s move was secretly discussed between the two parties and he is going to make a reunion with former Igitangaza Music guru, Bruce Melodie, although the exact signing date remains undisclosed.
The two worked together since March 2019, before their eventual split after two years. The very short-lived household also saw singer Juno Kizigenza being nurtured during his musical early days.
The ‘Ikinyafu’ singer’s ongoing collaboration with 1:55 Am is evident through his work with Producer Element, and insiders suggest that Bruce Melodie’s influence played a pivotal role in this strategic move.
The ‘Katerina’ hitmaker joined the house in 2022 after parting ways with Tanzanian record label, Cloud9 Entertainment. 1:55 is also home to renowned producer Element (Eleeh) and fast-rising artiste Ross Khana.
Kenny Sol’s fame began when he joined Yemba Voice group composed with artistes Bill Ruzima and Mozzy Yemba Boy, after graduating from Nyundo School of Music and Arts. The group was disbanded in 2019, leading the ‘Joli’ singer to pursue a solo career.
Since Kenny Sol started making music as a solo artiste, he has won different awards including Best Video of the Year at Isango and Muzika Awards 2022.
