SC Kiyovu head coach Andre Casa Mbungo was left ruing his team’s missed opportunities in front of goal following a 1-all draw against Marines in the Azam Rwanda Premier League on Saturday at Mumena Stadium.

The fixture had been abandoned on November 26 due to heavy downpour after 34 minutes.

Marines, who were looking for three points to break into top six, got an early goal through former SC Kiyovu forward Yamini Salum in the 10th minute, before SC Kiyovu equalised through, Aime Placide Uwineza, the son of their athletic coach Innocent Rwabuhihi, in the 30th minute.

"We paid the price for our wastefulness, every time we won back possession, we’d give it back almost immediately. Even when we created scoring chances, we just wasted them but overall my players did well and we need to keep the rhythm,” Mbungo said.

SC Kiyovu tried to look for the winning goal but Yves Rwasamanzi’s Marines looked too strong for them to break down.

Marines now have 9 points while Kiyovu have 16 points.

Defending champions Rayon Sports won 1-0 over hosts Amagaju at Nyagisenyi stadium on Sunday, thanks to Djabel Manishimwe’s strike in the 79th minute, from an Eric Irambona assist.

Olivier Karekezi’s team jumped into fourth place with 14 points, two behind leaders AS Kigali and SC Kiyovu, while they are one behind rivals APR, but the former have one game in hand – against Miroplast.

Action continues Tuesday, with Marines FC hosting Bugesera FC at Umuganda Stadium, while Sunrise FC will take on Kirehe FC at Nyagatare turf, with Espoir FC hosting Police FC at Kamarampaka Stadium), and table leaders AS Kigali tackling SC Kiyovu at Kigali Stadium.

AS Kigali lead the standings with 16 points, followed by SC Kiyovu and APR with 15 points each, Police FC are in fifth place with 12 while Amagaju FC are third from bottom with seven points, Miroplast are in 15th, while Espoir FC are rock bottom.
