AS Kigali defensive midfielder Eric ‘Zidane’ Nsabimana is expected to be out of action for at least a month after breaking a cheek bone in a training ground collision with teammate Omar Ngandu last week.
Nsabimana will miss league matches against SC Kiyovu and Bugesera FC. He underwent successful surgery at CHUK hospital and returned home to continue the treatment—his return has been put to mid-January.
"The surgery went well and I am feeling better. It was a bad injury but I am happy with the way the operation went, now I will continue treatment and hope to return earlier than expected,” Nsabimana said.
The latest injury comes just as the former Rwanda U17 international was just returning from a fractured left tibia. Nsabimana has struggled with injury after another since returning from the 2011 FIFA U17 World Cup in Mexico.
The 24-year-old joined AS Kigali in the 2015/16 season from APR FC, having signed for the army side after the 2011 FIFA U17 World Cup. He signed a new contract with the City of Kigali team until 2019.
