Second-placed SC Kiyovu will go into the Azam Rwanda Premier League clash against Marines FC on Saturday at Mumena stadium knowing that victory will help them leapfrog AS Kigali at the top of the table standing.

Andre Casa Mbungo’s side will reclaim the top spot if they win the game that was stopped after 34 minutes when still goalless three weeks ago due to heavy rain. A win for SC Kiyovu will see them go to 18 points, two ahead of AS Kigali.

Marines FC, who start the day in 13th place with eight points from seven matches, will be looking for three points in order to move up to the top seven above archrivals Etincelles.

"Our aim is to keep winning our matches because we want to stay on top of the table. It is hard to play against Marines who always fight from the start to the end but we need to win the game to continue strongly in the race for the title,” Mbungo told Saturday Sport.

Former AS Kigali and Police FC coach added that, "It won’t be an easy game because there are no easy fixtures in the league, but I believe we can win the game in-front of our fans.”

His counterpart of Marines, Yves Rwasamanzi admitted that, "We will be up against tricky opponents, who are aiming to challenge for the league title, but we also want to win the game to remain in the topflight.”

AS Kigali lead the standings with 16 points, one ahead of SC Kiyovu and APR, while Police FC remain in fourth place with 12 points despite losing 1-0 to defending champions, Rayon Sports on Thursday.

Amagaju FC, who host fifth-placed Rayon Sports on Sunday in Nyamagabe, newly promoted Miroplast and Espoir FC occupy the bottom three spots with seven points each.
