RE: "France must own up to role in Genocide, say survivors” (The New Times, December 14). France, as the Ibuka representative pointed out, will not allow those documents locked and sealed in the Mitterrand’s archives to be made public.

And before I continue, I’m not suggesting that we, as a people, stop pushing the French government to own up to their promises and moral duty by allowing an independent review of the said archives. You see, the entire planet, at least those who care to know, has no shred of a doubt, including French citizens themselves, that at least a few dozen politicians and high ranking military officers masterminded the most gruesome genocide mankind has ever seen but just like the rest of us, they don’t understand why.

We can speculate all we want but disturbing the truth remains.

Someone had vested interest in seeing us gone and the simple fact that no western nation has yet to ask France (and everyone else cited in the decades long reports) officially, to at least answer that very simple and fundamental question that’s been waltzing in everyone’s mind, speaks more than volumes.

Why?
