GOING PLACES: Celestin Ntagungira.

RWANDA’S Fifa and Caf licensed assistant referee, Celestin Ntagungira has been invited to attend the Confederation of African Football Elite Referees and Assistant referees’ course in Algeria.

Ntagungira who arrived in Algiers early this week will join Caf/Fifa Instructors and more than 50 selected referees and assistant referees from across the continent to the one-week course.

According to cafonline.com, the main objective of the course is to inform referees of few modifications and interpretation of the laws of the game and also to review their performances in the past year.

The medical and physical health condition of the participants will also be checked,” said Bester Kalombo, Caf’s refereeing Manager.

According to Kalombo, this course is taking place at a very important time when various competitions are coming up. They are the African Nations Championship (CHAN), African Youth Championship, Can/World Cup qualifiers and CAF inter-clubs’ new season.

"This course, which is divided into four sessions training and practical work, will help prepare them technically and ready for the competitions.

"For example, a session on the ‘analysis of match incidents’ will help them improve on their decision making in every match,” said Kalombo.

This the second referees course that Ntagungira is attending after the Fifa seminar for assistant referees which winded up last week in Singapore.
