Even though winning seems very unlikely, Rwanda are plotting to give defending champions and pre-tournament favourites Uganda a good run for their money when the
ICC/ACA East Africa Women Cricket Cup action throws off this morning.

The two sides are set to clash in a 40-over game at Simba Union cricket academy in Nairobi, Kenya. With a lively school’s cricket week, the women league and a series of international matches going into the tournament, Uganda is expected to be an even tougher opponent than last year when they trounced Tanzania by two wickets in the final.

Ahead of the tournament, Uganda’s coach Franco Otieno was quoted as saying, "The girls have had good practice and I’m looking forward for another good outing.

Rwanda, on the other hand has set much of her focus on tomorrow’s tie with hosts, Kenya.

"Of all the three (Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya), our best chance is Kenya. They are not as tough as Tanzania and Uganda,” Rwanda’s team manager Emmanuel Byiringiro said.

Games are being played on a round robin basis and at the end of the day, the top two sides will meet in a final scheduled for Saturday. The other teams will square up for a third place play off.
