THE former Police FC head coach Goran Kopunovic has been linked with a move to league side champions Rayon Sports to replace Olivier Karekezi who is in police custody over charges related to cybercrime.

The club president, Paul Muvunyi confirmed that they are in talks with Kopunovic, among other people.

"Karekezi is not with us right now, we will meet next week to decide his replacement. There are many coaches who have applied to coach Rayon Sports but we have not chosen any. Goran is among the many, but we have not chosen the head coach and assistant,” Muvunyi said

Rayon is also reportedly in talks with their former midfielder Djano Witakenge to fill the gap left after death of Assistant Coach Hamad ‘Katauti’ Ndikumana.

During his tenure at Police FC, Kopunovic led the club to two finals of Rwanda Peace Cup and went ahead to qualify them for the CAF Confederation Cup.

Rayon Sports will return to action after December 10. Earlier the club requested FERWAFA to postpone a couple of their fixtures in the wake of troubles that afflicted the club lately, including the death of their assistant coach and club legend Hamad ‘Katauti’ Ndikumana and the arrest of head coach Olivier Karekezi in connection with cybercrime.
