Dear Editor,

I read in yesterday’s issue that the Rwanda National Police fired 29 officers for misconduct. To me, this is very good because there is no way police can enforce law if they are not disciplined as well.

The article also cited cases ranging from deserting their work without official permission for a long time, corruption-related cases and other forms of indiscipline. Such behaviour spoils the institution’s image and should not be tolerated.

Discipline and proper conduct at work are paramount especially for an organisation that is charged with the responsibility of keeping order.
