RWANDA has set much of her focus on Kenya in the one-week ICC/ACA East Africa Women Cricket Cup which starts tomorrow in Nairobi.
The debutants open their campaign this Wednesday against pre-tournament favourites Uganda but team manager Emmanuel Byiringiro insists that their tie against Kenyan is one they will fight for.
"Of all the three (Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya), our best chance is Kenya. They are not as tough as Tanzania and Uganda,” he said.
The team which arrived in Nairobi yesterday is expected to under go light training today as it prepares for what should be a challenging opening tie against defending champions Uganda tomorrow.
With a lively school’s cricket week, the women league and also some international matches, Uganda is expected to be an even tougher opponent than last year.
Ahead of the one-week tournament, the Ugandan coach Franco Otieno was quoted as saying, "Cricket is all about playing the game and having constant practice. The girls have been able to improve and I am looking forward for another good outing.”
