Ugandan diva Juliana Kanyomozi will headline Charly &Nina’s debut Imbaraga album launch. The concert will be held at the Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village, formerly Camp Kigali, on December 1.
Alex Muyoboke, the boss of Decent Entertainment, the company organising the concert, told The New Times that Kanyomozi has already confirmed her presence and is set to grace the event.
Muyoboke noted that Juliana was the right pick to headline the girl-band’s maiden 10-track album launch, because besides being one of East Africa’s finest female artistes, she has a song titled Woman, which is in line with the theme of the concert, Imbaraga z’ umugore (Strength of a woman).
"She also has not performed in Kigali for a long time now, and while doing consultations, I realised Rwandans long for her performance,” he added.
The Ugandan songstress has two albums to her name, and some of her popular hits include I’m still here, Mundeke, Seven days, Nkyanoonya, Nabikoowa and her latest single Wakajanja.
She has over the years won many accolades and was the first female musician to win the Pearl of Africa Music Awards (PAM Awards) ‘Artiste of the Year’ accolade.
He added that Charly & Nina have for the past two months been tirelessly rehearsing in preparation for what is billed to be the album launch of the year.
Uganda’s Geosteady of the Owooma song and Burundian Big Furious that featured in Indoro hit song are also going to perform.
Other artistes on board are DJ Pius, Buravan, Andy Bumuntu and Neptunez band.
