Alade sets record with “Johnny”
Nigerian singer Yemi Alade has made history with her single “Johnny” that catapulted her to fame across Africa. Early on in the year, Alade became the first female African artiste with the most YouTube views on a song.

Nigerian singer Yemi Alade has made history with her single "Johnny” that catapulted her to fame across Africa. Early on in the year, Alade became the first female African artiste with the most YouTube views on a song.
P-Square’s "Personally” was top with a little over 78 million views until "Jonny” took over the top spot with more than 79 million views now.
According to Stargist, a Nigerian entertainment news website, the song was certified by YouTube as the most watched video uploaded by an African woman. Some of the her songs with impressive views include "Na Gode” which has 15 million views and "Tumbum” with 12 million. "Johnny” was directed by the highly acclaimed Clarence Peters.
