APR FC left back Emmanuel Imanishimwe has replaced the suspended midfielder Djihad Bizimana ahead of the return leg of the 2018 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) finals play-off qualifier against Ethiopia scheduled to be staged at Kigali Stadium on Sunday.
Head coach Antoine Hey on Tuesday summoned Imanishimwe to replace Bizimana as Amavubi resume training.
Bizimana picked up the second yellow card on Sunday following one he got during the return leg against Uganda.
Imanishimwe, who is regaining his fitness following an injury sustained three weeks ago, was pivotal for Rwanda when they beat Uganda 2-0 in the return leg of the final qualification match in August but lost out 2-3 on aggregate to bow out.
Amavubi only need a draw in the second leg against Ethiopia to book their ticket to Morocco. The winner over the two legs will join Uganda and Sudan as representatives of the CECAFA region.
Rwanda needs a goalless draw against Ethiopia on Sunday or must avoid any 2-0 score by Ethiopia to be able to qualify to next year’s Chan Championship in Morocco. The winner of two legs between Rwanda and Ethiopia will qualify for the finals tournament that will run from January 12 to February 4 next year.
