Rwanda has been pooled in Group A in men’s category and in Group D in women’s category ahead of the forthcoming FIBA 3x3 African Games which will take place in Accra, Ghana, from March 18-22.
Moise Mutokambali’s men’s teams was pooled alongside Egypt, Central African Republic and Côte d'Ivoire while his women’s side was drawn alongside Benin, Uganda and Comoros.
Basketball (3x3) is among 23 sports disciplines featuring in the 2024 All African Games which are expected to attract over 4,000 athletes.

Other sports include Arm-Wrestling, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball (3x3), Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Chess, Cricket, Cycling, Football, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Rugby, Aquatics, Table Tennis, Karate-Do Taekwondo, Tennis, Triathlon, Volleyball, Weightlifting and Wrestling.
Seven out of the 23 sports disciplines – Badminton, Cycling, Table Tennis, Tennis, Triathlon, and Wrestling – will double as qualifiers for the Paris Olympics 2024, raising the stakes even higher.
Beyond the official competition, the Games will also feature a variety of demonstration sports that showcase emerging trends and disciplines.
These include E-sports, Mixed Martial Arts, Speedball, Sambo, and Teqball, promising a glimpse into the future of sports entertainment.
The African Games formally known as All-African Games are continental multi-disciplinary Pan-African sports event held every four years exclusively owned by the African Union on behalf of its Members States.
The Games have a long history that is linked to various Games such as Community Games and later Friendship Games that were held in 1963 in Dakar, Senegal, where twenty-four (24) independent African States participated in track-and-field events that included women.
