RE: "Medical council appeals to MPs over recruitment of unlicensed professionals” (The New Times, November 2). Thanks for bringing up this matter. The other professions suffer the same challenges. Capacity to regulate, do periodic inspections, apprehend the culprits and build the professional standards is lacking.

The accountancy profession is adversely affected by huge numbers of people posing as auditors and accountants while they do not belong to the professional body and lack the requisite qualifications.

Parliament should summon and hear from the engineers, accountants, lawyers etc.
