Located at Gasore Serge Foundation facility in Ntarama Sector, the ‘Field of Dreams’ was built by Israel – Premier Tech (IPT) and it cost over Rwf300 million to complete it.
The funds were mobilized through the ‘Race for Change’ initiative spearheaded by Froome in order to enable thousands of Rwandan children to embrace cycling.
The centre promises to play a crucial role in boosting cycling in the country which will host the UCI Road World Championship in 2025, becoming the first African country to do so.
The Field of Dreams comprises two main parts including the newly-built pump-track and a 1.2km cycling course - the first of several planned training facilities within the centre.
So far, six races for children under 19 years of age have been played at the facility in a competition known as Rwanda Cycling Cup.
