Rwanda women beach volleyball team will compete in the Commonwealth Games qualifiers which will be held in Serra Leone.

The tournament kicks off Friday through Sunday.

Rwanda will start the campaign against Sierra Leone in the first game before taking on Seychelles, and then Mauritius.  On Saturday, they will be playing Nigeria. Rwanda need to win all their games in order to qualify for the Commonwealth Games.

Team Rwanda at the Africa beach volleyball championships is composed of Charlotte Nzayisenga and Denyse Mutatsimpundu. They are under coach Christophe Mudahinyuka.

The Commonwealth Games will be held in Australia next year in April. The team traveled on Tuesday before reaching Serra Leone on Thursday.

Mutatsimpundu and Charlotte Nzayisenga won a gold medal at the 2017 CAVB Beach Volleyball Cup in Maputo, Mozambique in May.

In 2012, the duo, while playing at the junior level, won gold at the Africa Championships in Togo but failed to participate in the World Championships in Canada after the hosts denied the Rwandan team entry visas.
