Will Urban Boys survive a breakup?

They have been through thick and thin, having come from nothing to a celebrated duo on Rwanda’s music scene, so what exactly is going on with Urban Boys? The recent wedding between one of the members Safi Madiba and divorcee Judith Niyonizera left many tongues wagging but like any other showbiz story, the world seems to have moved on. What remains a mystery now is why fellow band-member, Nizzo Kabosi, was not invited to the wedding of the month. Though he has continuously dismissed rumours of having a bad relationship with Niyonizera way before she met her current husband, word has it that the issues between the two stem from Nizzo’s open criticism of Madiba’s choice of a life partner. To add salt to injury, Nizzo was seen masquerading with Madiba’s ex-girlfriend as he openly told those listening that he didn’t care about not being invited. Historically, music groups have broken up over smaller matters and we are only praying that these two can weather the storm. We will be watching.

Meddy is ready to leave

He has enjoyed a month of performances and overwhelming love and support from his fans and it seems that Meddy is ready to pack up and go back to the US where he has resided on permanent basis over the last few years.

Well, we are told that the talented singer cancelled an appearance in Musanze due to scheduling issues. The singer, who has traversed the entire country thanks to millions in Airtel sponsorship fees is said to be fatigued after nonstop performances that kicked off with his album launch last month. After Meddy, music fans will be gearing up for US based songstress Priscilla who recently gave fans a sneak peek of her new album.

Someone help Assinah move on!

A broken heart is something we understand too well but in Assinah Errah’s case, we are getting a little impatient. Not one to keep her feelings to herself, Assinah took to her social media pages to weigh in on Safi Madiba’s wedding. She pointed out that even though it was a surprising one, both the bride and groom looked happy and relaxed "unlike those who seemed to be having a hangover the day they got married.” Social media lives for drama and her big following did not disappoint, with many asking when she will stop talking about her ex. If you remember well, a few years ago, Assinah was dumped by her then boyfriend of eight years; rapper Riderman, who proceeded to marry someone else one month later and is now a father of one. Though fans were furious with Riderman, they have since moved on. It should be remembered that Assinah appeared on a radio show a little over a month ago and spent about 20 minutes talking about intimate details regarding her life with her ex, to the shock of many. Is it time to move on? Absolutely. We can only hope that she finally finds the peace that she deserves.

Zari takes her relationship off social media for good

Socialites ‘live’ on social media but it seems East Africa’s social media queen Zari Hassan is done with it. At least when it comes to her relationship with Tanzanian singer Diamond.

According to Zari, contrary to media speculation, her relationship with the singer and father of her two children is not over but is simply off social media.

Zari told a popular radio station in Tanzania that she is working on her relationship with Diamond behind the scenes. She pointed out that the more they try to date away from social media, the more their fans and media outlets spin stories about their status, but so far, they are doing better after the scandal.

Speculation about the status of their relationship hit fever pitch when Zari deleted all the photos that had Diamond from all her social media accounts. She also removed Diamond’s last name from the names of their two children’s social media accounts.

The relationship between the two hit the rocks when Diamond admitted to having fathered a child with Tanzanian video vixen Hamisa Mobetto.

Is it over for Stromae?

Singer Stromae has since 2015 hang his guitar and left the stage after it was claimed that he had had an allergic reaction to his anti-malaria drugs while on a music tour of Africa. Well, in 2015, Stromae was expected to perform in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and later Rwanda but the concerts were hurriedly cancelled and apparently, the singer was promptly airlifted to Europe for emergency treatment. His illness had largely been attributed to fatigue which came about when the singer performed in 210 concerts in a period of 10 years. Word has it that coupled with anti-malaria medicine; Stromae was plagued by hallucinations and has since taken a break to concentrate on his health. Though he was last seen on stage about two years ago, the singer continues to use his time to write songs for other artistes and is said to be adamant about being uninterested in performing any time soon. We will continue praying for his comeback.
