Former Rayon Sports captain Faudi Ndayisenga is training with the Azam Rwanda Premier League side AS Kigali with a view to win a contract with them.

The Burundi international has been training with Eric Nshimiyimana’s team for the past one week, according to AS Kigali Secretary General, Joseph Nshimiye.

"He has been training with other players since last week, but we have to wait for the coach’s decision on whether he needs him or not,” Nshimiye confirmed on Wednesday.

It is anticipated that Ndayisenga is coming in to replace Amavubi forward Dominique Savio Nshuti, who will travel to Morocco next month to undergo surgery on a career-threatening shoulder injury.

However, if he impresses during the trial period and earns a contract, Ndayisenga can only make his debut in the second half of the season, since the deadline for signing new players has already passed.

The Burundian international has previously played for the top clubs in Rwanda including APR FC, which he joined in 2008 until 2009 when he crossed to SC Kiyovu for two seasons before signing for Rayon Sports from 2011 to 2015.

He left Rayon Sports in 2016 to join Kenyan side Sofapaka where he played for one season before going to SC Villa in Uganda for trials but failed to win a contract.

The 28-year-old Ndayisenga recently returned to Rwanda and trained with Rayon Sports but things didn’t work out for him and he’s now trying his luck at AS Kigali.
