Olivier Ntagengwa and Patrick Kavalo Akumuntu have retained the Beach Volleyball Circuit title for third successive year after the duo beat Thierry Mugabo and Gadiel Muyuku 2-0 (21-175 and 21-13) in the final played on Sunday in Rubavu district.

University of Kibungo Volleyball Club captain Ntagengwa and Gisagara left-attacker Kavalo, won the title unbeaten. Patrick Rudakubana and Emmanuel Biramanu took third placed.
For their effort, Ntagengwa and Kavalo took home Rwf200,000, while Mugabo and Muyuku got Rwf150, 000 whereas Rudakubana and Biramanu pocketed Rwf100, 000.
In the women category, two-time defending and reigning champions Nzayisenga Charlotte and Mutatsimpundu Denyse were simply too good for their opponents; Claudine Musanabageni and Irakoze Belise, whom they saw off in straight sets 2-0 (21-11 and 21-13).
Munezero Valentine and Valentine Kayitesi finished on third position.
Similar to their male counterparts, Nzayisenga and Mutatsimpundu also walked away with Rwf200,000), second-placed team took Rwaf150,000 while the team in third place got Rwf100,000.
Julius Kagarama Kansiime and Fidele Nyilimama won the veteran men’s title for the second year in a row, Ignace Iyabato and Faycal Safari came in second place while Jean de Dieu Masumbuko and Jean Marie Vianney Nyagahima took third place.
The women’s title was claimed by Gertrude Kubwimana and Scholastique Bitukuze after beating Rose Uwamahoro and Modeste Mukamasabo. Awunick Munganyinka and Agnes Mukankusi took third place.
Winners in the veterans’ categories received Rwf120, 000 while the second and third-placed teams got Rwf90,000 and Rwf60,000 respectively. In total, the two-day competition attracted 35 teams.
