APR Women Volleyball Club have parted company with head coach Viateur Sibomana after he spent seven years in chargeof the team, the club’s Secretary General, Captain Jean Claude Mugwaneza, has confirmed.

The former Umubano Blue Tigers VC player joined as head coach in 2010 to replace Paul Bitok, who had moved to take over as head coach of the national team.

During his time in charge, Sibomana guided APR to two league titles in 2012 and 2013 as well as this year’s Genocide Memorial tournament after beating archrivals Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) 3-2 in the title match.

Mugwaneza revealed that, "His (Sibomana) contract has expired and the club decided not to offer him an extension because we don’t think the team is making any improvement under him.”

"We have not won the league in four years, hence the decision not to renew his contract, his assistant (Alex Nkuranga) will take charge of the team temporarily as we look for a new head coach,” Mugwaneza added.

Sibomana’s sacking came less than 24 hours after APR lost to RRA in the final of this year’s Carre d’AS volleyball tournament.
