Kirehe VC have won this year’s season-ending Carre d’AS volleyball tournamand after beating APR in four sets, 3-1, in final played on Sunday at Amahoro Indoor Stadium. Kirehe’s win comes a two weeks after losing the league playoffs final against Gisagara VC. It is Kirehe’s second trophy since the club was formed two years ago, following success in the 2017 Kayumba Memorial tournament, in February after beating UTB in the final.

APR started the better team and won the first set 25-21 but Fidele Nyirimana’s side recovered well to dominate the game with quick game, blocks, services and strong spikes to win the next three sets’ 25-16, 25-23 and 23-25.
On Saturday, the three teams that took part in the men’s competition, APR surprised league champions Gisagara 3-0, Kirehe defeat APR 3-0 before Gisagara won over Kirehe 3-2 after IPRC-South pulled from the tournament at the last minute.
Meanwhile, Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) won the women’s tourney for a record fifth consecutive year after beating APR 3-2 in the title match.
Like it was in the men’s final, APR claimed the first set 25-18, RRA took the second and third 25-19 and 25-21 before APR won fourth set 25-20 but the defending champions grabbed decisive fifth set; 15-12.
To reach the final, APR beat St. Aloys de Rwamagana 3-0 and Ruhango High School 3-0, while RRA defeated Ruhango and St. Aloys 3-0 respectively.
