APR handball team drawn in Group A Africa Champions League

APR handball club has been drawn in pool A at the forthcoming 39th edition of the CAHB African Champions league scheduled for October 19-31 in Hammamet, Tunisia. The Rwandan league champions have been grouped together with hosts Espérance Sportive de Tunis, who one of the pre-tournament favourites for the title.

Group A: Esperance (Tunisia), Caiman (Congo-Brazzaville), FAP (Cameroon), APR (Rwanda)

Group B: Zamalek (Egypt), W. Samara (Morocco), Red Star (Ivory Coast), Phoenix (Gabon), Ettihad (Libya)

Group C: Al Ahly (Egypt), Hammamet (Tunisia), Fanz (Cameroon), HC Oca (DRC), Al Ahly (Libya)

APR handball club has been drawn in pool A at the forthcoming 39th edition of the CAHB African Champions league scheduled for October 19-31 in Hammamet, Tunisia.

The Rwandan league champions have been grouped together with hosts Espérance Sportive de Tunis, who one of the pre-tournament favourites for the title.

The other teams in the pool are; Caiman of the Republic of Congo and Les Forces Armées et Police (FAP) de Yaoundé from Cameroon. FAP and Caiman finished 5th and 6th respectively, at last year’s edition in Burkina Faso.

In Ouagadougou, Rwanda was represented by Police Handball Club, who finished bottom of the 10-team continental showpiece with a 0:6 win ratio. Egyptian giants Al Ahly won the title after overcoming Esperance 26-23 in the final.

Organized by the African Handball Confederation (CAHB) under the auspices of the International Handball Federation (IHF), this year’s African Champions League has grown by 4 teams from 10 in last year’s tournament.

The top two teams in Group A, which has four (teams) as well as top three in the five-team Group B and Group C, will advance to the quarter-finals while the rest will play classification matches.
