Dear Editor,

I am an ardent reader of your paper, without it, I may consider that day black. I read a letter on 10th December in The New Times by one Mucyo Justus which stated that Rwandatel has good services but they staged a bad show!

Personally, I believe that the writer exposed himself as a mere jealous chap in the community. On behalf of other Rwandans who might be feeling differently about this letter, just like I, I decided to sit down and write this letter to you in response to Mucyo’s.

The writer thanked Rwandatel for launching the long awaited good services and I believe that that was a good statement. Immediately he threw in a ridiculous complaint adding that he was not pleased with the actual celebration of the GSM launch.

That, "the company brought us great performers such as American-Jamaican artiste, Sean Paul, Congolese Koffi Olomide and Ugandan star, Bebe Cool among others; however the show did not turn out to be what we expected. The show had the best sound system compared to other shows that have been staged in Rwanda but, we did not enjoy as expected.”

Sincerely, the party was a mega one. In fact, it was a freebie. Mucyo actually forgot the fact that Rwandatel did not charge anyone to attend the show! Whoever attended had purchased something from the telecom company that they would actually use later on besides entry.

Why then should we be quick to attack a company that has offered us, cheaper services, and brand new technology (3G) that we have been lacking all along?

I guess Mucyo knows nothing about the state-of-the-art superb mobile handsets that Rwandatel has offered at very affordable prices not to mention the cheap call costs that other telecom companies have never offered us.

During this promotional period, Rwandatel has even rewarded subscribers by doubling the amount of airtime we purchase! What a company! This is already enough for anyone there to get excited forget about the mere concert.

Services like "gift for you” are totally free while MTN charges us a whole Rwf53. Honestly, Mucyo; such developments can not be trashed just because of a four-hour show that did not meet whatever standards.

My dear, if you hope that Shaggy will sing one meter away from the fans then my advice is simple:  host him at your house. Well, let us wait and see what the Shaggy show has to offer. Or even, if at all MTN will reward us for supporting them all the way through their 10 years in service.

They can not even reduce the airtime cost for customers to call and invite their friends to the show that is if at all even their network won’t be messy that day.
