League final1000 Hills 3-10 Buffaloes

Remera Buffaloes pulled off a stunning 10-3 victory over defending champions Thousand Hills in the final of this year’s national rugby league played on Saturday at APR FC training ground in Remera.

The Remera-based Buffaloes came into the game geared up and determined to stun the reigning champions and their vast experience saw them win a record-extending 12th league title.

Patrick Ikorukwishaka, who was named the MVP, scored a try, while Emmanuel Nduwayesu converted a penalty in a game that attracted a sizeable crown. Fly half Carlos Isimbi scored a penalty for Thousand Hills.

Remera Buffaloes were the underdogs, but it didn’t stop them from claiming a second trophy of the season, having defeated Thousand Hills in Rugby 7’s in August.

"I am very happy we won, it was a wonderful effort, we put them (1000 Hills) in a place they’re not used to. It was just a matter of keeping them at bay. The first 15 minutes of the second half were very important. I’m just overwhelmed,” admitted Buffaloes coach Moise Fils Habumugisha.
