SIX-TIME league champions Rayon Sport have resumed intensive training ahead of the weekend league match against SC Kiyovu set for Saturday at Mironko stadium.

The Blues went into yesterday’s morning training session minus striker Joseph Kaniki and Marcel Lomami who were still nursing injuries sustained in a road accident on Tuesday.

Kaniki sustained a serious ankle injury which may rule him out of the weekend clash against the declining giants while Lomami was yet to recover from knee pains.

Club captain Bonaventure Hategikimana managed to go through the morning session despite having been involved into the accident.  

Rayon Sport was involved in an accident while traveling to play the league match away to Kibuye in Karongi district on Tuesday.

The cause of the accident was attributed to bad weather not over speeding as it had been earlier on been  reported. A heavy cloud which was caused by heavy denied the driver visibility thus sliding off the road.

Ferwafa still is discussing on an appropriate date when Rayon Sport will play its away fixture to the Northern football giants.

Rayon Sport has 19 points in nine fixtures played this season while their opponents are placed bottom of the standings with 3 points in 10 matches played this season.

A win for Rayon Sport on Saturday means that Rayon Sport will be considered among favorites to win this year’s league.

On the otherside, a loss of SC Kiyovu will increase its chances of facing its first relegation to second division following its promotion to the top flight league in 1964.
